This notice explains what personal data Defo Labs Ltd ("Defo Labs", "we") collects through this website, why we collect it and what rights you have. We are the data controller.

What we collect

  • Email: when you email us we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message, including any project brief prepared on this site.
  • Technical data: our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) to run and secure the site.

We do not use advertising trackers and we do not sell personal data.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and discuss a potential project. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and steps taken at your request before a contract.
  • To keep the website secure and available. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
  • Analytics cookies, only if you accept them in the cookie banner. Lawful basis: consent.

Who we share it with

Email is handled by our email provider and the site is served by our hosting provider; both act on our instructions. We may also share data where the law requires it. Some providers process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for up to 12 months after our last contact, or longer if they lead to a project. Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the personal data we hold about you, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@defolabs.co.uk and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
